Introducing RiddleFactory.dk
Hey everybody, this is Brian from Cracked it! Escape Games. Coming to you today from inside of our workspace where we're getting ready to start some new build outs and get a new game ready for this October. I just wanted to take a couple of minutes and go over a request I had from Bejamin, and I am gonna butcher this, Benjamin Kongshaug from Riddle factory in Denmark. Benjamin reached out to me and asked if I would review some of his products, for no other consideration than sending me some of his products, for me to do a review. This is not a compensated review, this is not something I am getting money for. Benjamin sent me a selection of his products and I am going to reveal them here.
This was in the mail when I came back from my vacation. I haven't opened it. What I did do, is I went to Benajmin's website at Riddlefactory.dk and I printed off his full product listing so that as I opened these things I can identify what they are and possibly tell you a little bit about them, and give you my first impressions. If you like them, reach out to Benjamin his email is. To be honest his stuff is very reasonably priced. They range in price from as low as $15.00, if I am reading correctly, to as high as $85.00 for his Viking box. Without further ado, I am going to go ahead and open this package, and see what we got.
What's in the box!?
We got four different items here. This first one is the Symbol Math Puzzle. According to the description from what I read previously, is that you decode the mathematical formula using the symbols on the card here, and it will provide you the code here. It's printed on, excuse me, it's laser cut on 3MM hardboard, pretty good engraving. I'll see if I can figure it out, again I haven't looked at these any closer than what they are. The retail on that is $20.00.
The next Item I have is, oh, ok there's a couple of items in here. Oh, there's actually several items in here. Thank you Benjamin, you sent me a really good selection of items. The first item I have here, this is the, this one is actually not on the website, but it's a padlock with, I'm not sure what the functionality is but I will have to play with this and see what I can figure out about it. (note: upon further review this item is actually listed on the website and is called the sliding lock puzzle) Again, nice laser cut, good quality, nicely packaged in shrink wrap. It measures roughly, 4 1/2 - 5 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches wide. Good fittings on it. Nice laser engraving. I'll play with that and come back to it later.
This item here is the illuminating wood. I haven't looked into this. The illuminating wood is $50.00 But I'll have to come back to you and see what this is.
And then there are four nicely engraved Lexan, or acrylic sheets that is, I believe, the smooth, digital, transparent puzzle. Transparent - Digital puzzle. When all of these sheets, are overlaid on each other they'll make a four digit code. This one sells for $40.00 on Benjamin's website.
The last item I have, very nice, this is gorgeous. This item is known as the Spring Chest. Again, I don't have the full description in front of me, I just have the photograph. I'm not going to spoil how you would solve this, but I do understand that it has something to do with rotating this spring to drop the box and then get it out. Now, my first impression is, man, this is a gorgeously engraved piece. Its got nice rounded beveled corners, good hardware, nice heavy duty spring. As you can see this doesn't slide back and forth. What he recommends on the website is that you put a treat in here and that this would be a good lobby puzzle. I don't know if necessarily this would be something I would put in my Escape Room, but, as pregame or post-game entertainment, I think that this would be a fun thin to let people play. This actually beautifully put together. It's about 4 1/2 X 4 1/2 X maybe 2 inches tall. It doesn't weigh but, maybe 6 or 8 ounces. Look at that, engraving, that is just just fabulous. I'm not sure how he did that's just gorgeous. Nice peg construction, through screws to screw the whole thing together. Man that's just awesome!
So, my first thoughts are, these are some real nice quality. (displaying acrylic sheet) Nice, maybe 3MM acrylic that's engraved and according to the pictures on his site, these are very nicely put together. He does have some other offerings. He's got an enigma machine that has acrylic wheels and a hardboard base. The Braille alphabet, if you want to do a Braille puzzle for your game, or if you want to include a Braille puzzle for somebody who might be sight or visibility limited. I think that that would be a great addition. He has a circle maze and several other items. Go ahead and check out his site, it's Riddlefactory.dk and the gentleman's name is Benjamin A. Kongshaug. I'm gonna play with these and see if I can figure out how they work. If I can I will go ahead and give you guys some feedback on them. Overall, Benajamin, thank you, thank you so much for sending me these and giving you my first impression. These are gorgeously engraved pieces. The look to be fairly well constructed, again, I don't know how they'll hold up to repeated use. If I were to buy one, I would definitely buy two, because we know how certain people can be with the games and toys in our rooms. It's always good to have a backup.
I think, if I'm not mistaken, some of these puzzles can be customized. You just need to reach out to Benjamin. For instance, with the, again, this is not a solved riddle, but if you wanted a customized code on his four piece Lexan transparent digital puzzle, I'm sure he might be able to hook that up for you. (Hold's up padlock puzzle) I am really excited about this, because this wasn't on his website. I may be one of the first people to see it. Thank's alot. I appreciate it. Peace out!
